Evaluation of side effects of measles-mumps-rubella vaccine administered to health care workers
Objective: In this study it’s aimed to evaluate the side effects of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccines administered to health care workers in our hospital. Material and Method: Two MMR vaccines were administered one month apart to health care workers in our hospital between 24 May 2016- 30 October 2016. The health care workers were examined for side affects at the 1,2,6,14 and 21 days after vaccination. Results: Totally 120 healthcare workers were vaccinated. 67 of them were female and 53 of them were male. All of the vaccinated health care workers had pain at the injection site 24 hours after vaccination but no one had pain at the 48th hour. Three of them (%2.5) (two female an done male) had non generalised maculopapular rush 14 days average (11-16 days) after the second vaccine. Conclusion: All of the health care workers had pain at the injection side after 24 hours from vaccination. Three of them also developed rush. In conclusion, while the pain in the injection site is the most common side effect, maculopapuler rush can also bee seen rarely.
